How do I set up ChildLock?

Three steps: install ChildLock from the App Store, grant the Screen Time permission when the app asks for it, and enroll your Face ID. Setup then walks you through creating your child's profile and picking their first channels.

Why does ChildLock need Screen Time permission?

Apple's Screen Time (FamilyControls) framework is the only supported iOS mechanism for shielding apps. Without the permission, ChildLock cannot block anything — there is no alternative API. Everything the framework processes stays on your device.

How do I choose which apps get blocked?

Open ChildLock and go to the blocked-apps picker, then select the apps and categories your child shouldn't open. The block is applied by iOS itself, so it holds even when ChildLock is closed. Changing the list needs your Face ID.

How do I add or remove channels my kid can watch?

Open your child's profile. To add: use the search pill to find any YouTube channel, or tap one of the age-appropriate Suggestions. To remove: tap the channel in the Approved section and confirm.

My kid's session ended — how do I extend it?

Pick up the phone and authenticate with your Face ID, then choose a duration. Only the enrolled parent can extend a session; kids can't tap or swipe past the shield.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → ChildLock → Cancel, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs to its end.

How do I get a refund?

Apple processes all iOS refunds. Use Apple's Report a Problem at reportaproblem.apple.com within Apple's refund window. If you email subscriptions@childlock.xyz about a charge, include the transaction ID from your Apple receipt.

What data do you collect about my child?

None server-side. Your child's watch history, session state, and profile stay on the phone. See our privacy policy for the full accounting, including the COPPA section.

A channel I approved isn't showing videos.

The video list comes from YouTube's public RSS feed for that channel, so new uploads can take a few minutes to appear. If a channel shows no videos for more than a day, it may have been renamed or deleted on YouTube — email help@childlock.xyz with the channel name and we'll check.

My kid found a workaround.

We want to know. Email help@childlock.xyz with your iOS version, your ChildLock version, and the steps to reproduce — we treat shield bypasses as top-priority bugs.
